Charles County, MD – Today, Phoenix International Incorporated kicks off National Charter Schools Week (May 8-14, 2022) celebrating the nearly 7,700 public charter schools and campuses across the nation and more than 30 schools here in Maryland – Phoenix International School of the Arts (PISOTA) being the first public charter school in Charles County.
National Charter Schools Week exists to celebrate charter schools, the high-quality and tuition-free public-schools that nearly 3.6 million students across America, and 25,000 students in Maryland, depend on for an excellent education. In recognition of our movement’s history and future, this year’s theme is National Charter Schools Week 2022: Charter Schools Rising.
“As we celebrate tremendous success in the charter school sector and 25,000 scholars here in Maryland, we are reflecting on our successes and spotlighting the scholars that will lead us into the next 30 years,” said Angelica Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix International. “We are humbled by the remarkable work of public charter school educators and leaders in an unprecedented year for education.”
Throughout the week of National Charter Schools Week, Phoenix International School of the Arts and the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools will be celebrating in several ways.
We’re months closer to PISOTA’s opening and we need you! In our first celebration of National Charter Schools Week, we are asking 100 people to donate $1,000 to our Arts and Innovation Fund which supports the opening of Charles County’s first-ever public charter school. Join us as we celebrate school choice and high-quality public school options for families. Please donate what you can, start a fundraiser of your own on behalf of PISOTA, and share this celebration with your peers. We’re thrilled to be celebrating this year with you!
